I started driving for Uber in January 2017. I was a little bit scared driving people at first, but it was easy just after a couple of rides or so. I worked until December 2017 driving for Uber. It was a fun job. Occassionally I got to take guests two or three hours away – sometimes I got a request that started in Monterey, CA where I would have to take the passenger all the way to San Francisco, CA or even to Antioch, CA. Again, I had fun driving passengers to their destinations.
I made quite a bit driving for Uber. The unfortunate part is that I owed over $1,200 in Federal taxes back to the government. That kind of was a bummer. It would have been around $6,000 but I got to deduct around $5,000.
I kept applying for driving positions all over California. I applied to UPS and FedEx. I applied to some route positions to include Coca-Cola and Schwan’s. Months went by and I wasn’t getting hired. After around ten months, I got an interview with a courier company that contracts to deliver packages for Amazon. 12 months went by, and then I finally got hired to deliver packages for Amazon. It was and is great!
I have been working for the courier service and contract with Amazon to deliver packages in San Jose, CA full-time. I started in December and have been working about two months or so. It can be a demanding job. I wake up at 4:00 a.m. and commute to San Jose, CA starting at 4:30 a.m. I get to the Amazon station at 6:00a.m. and I start at 6:45a.m. The other night, I didn’t clock out and worked until 7:02 p.m. It was about a 12 or 13 hour day not to include commuting time. Phew, today is a day off.
I am also taking Business 304 – Business Communications at California State University, Monterey Bay. It is only one class. I go to class on Monday and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. I absolutely love the class. I get to do case studies for homework, and right now, I am writing a paper/case study on the nonprofit organization, Hidden Valley Music Seminars which is located not too far from where I live.
I hope to take two classes next semester so that I can graduate sooner, but with work and school, it might be better to take it slower by taking only one class. I am not too far from graduation, but still need some more classes.
Hey, things are pretty cool and good.
How are things with ya’ll?
